These are the questions homeowners ask us most. We answer them the same way we would if you called us: straight, no sales pitch.
How much does a new roof cost?
It depends on the size of your roof, the pitch, how many layers need tearing off, and the material you choose, from shingles to metal roofing. Anyone who quotes you a price without looking at your roof is guessing. That is why our inspections and estimates are free. We look, we measure, and we give you a real number in writing.
How long does a roof last?
It depends on the material, the weather it has been through, and how well it has been maintained. Texas roofs live a hard life. Our heat, humidity, hail, and hurricanes wear a roof faster than mild climates do. Regular inspections and catching small problems early are the best way to get the most years out of any roof. That is exactly what our maintenance plan is for.
Should I repair my roof or replace it?
It comes down to the age of the roof and how widespread the damage is. A young roof with one bad flashing boot usually just needs a repair. An older roof with leaks in several spots, curling shingles, or soft decking is usually telling you it is done. When we inspect, we will tell you honestly which one makes sense. We do plenty of repairs. We are not going to sell you a roof you do not need.
What should I do after a hailstorm?
Call us for a free inspection. Hail damage is not always visible from the ground, and it gets worse the longer it sits. We will walk the roof, photograph everything, and show you what we found. If there is real damage, we will explain your options, including whether an insurance claim makes sense. If water is actively coming in, see our emergency roof repair page for what to do right now.
Will my insurance cover roof damage?
If the damage was caused by a covered event like hail or wind, usually yes, but it depends on your policy and your deductible. We document the damage thoroughly with photos and a written report, which is exactly what your adjuster needs to see. We will work with the process, but the claim is between you and your insurance company. We never promise you a claim outcome.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential jobs take one to three days, depending on the size of the roof and the weather. We show up on time, work steady, and clean up every day before we leave.
What warranty do you offer?
New roofs come with our 10-year labor warranty plus the manufacturer’s 30-year warranty on materials. All repairs are covered for 2 years. A warranty is only good if the company is still around to honor it, and we are local. We are not going anywhere. (roof warranty page)
Are you licensed?
Texas does not have a state roofing license, so there is no license to show you. What we can show you is a local company with a real reputation, real reviews, and our name on every job. Ask around Missouri City, Sugar Land, and Stafford.
Do I need to be home while you work?
No. Most of our customers are at work while we are on their roof. We will call or text you with updates and photos as we go.
Do you really do free inspections?
Yes. We walk the roof, take photos of what we find, and explain your options in plain language. No charge, no obligation, no pressure. If your roof is fine, we will tell you it is fine.
What areas do you serve?
Missouri City, Sugar Land, and Stafford, plus the surrounding Fort Bend County area. If you are nearby and not sure, just call and ask.
How do I know if I have storm damage?
Common signs: missing or creased shingles, dents in gutters or downspouts, granules collecting where downspouts drain, water stains on ceilings, or daylight showing through in the attic. But the only way to know for sure is to have someone walk the roof. That is what our free inspection is for.

Do you work on tile roofs?
Yes. We repair and replace tile roofs, including leak repairs and rotted decking replacement under tile. Tile work is a specialty of ours.
Do you help with insurance claims?
Yes. We help you determine whether to file a claim or not, document the damage with photos, and work through the process with you.
What roofing materials do you install?
Asphalt shingles from top shingle manufacturers, metal roofing, tile roofing, flat roofing (TPO, EPDM), synthetic, cedar, and slate.
Do you install gutters?
Yes. We install seamless aluminum gutters and gutter guards. Gutter work carries a 2-year warranty.
Do you do siding installation?
Yes. Siding installation typically takes 2 to 5 days depending on house size, including paint, and carries a 10-year labor warranty plus the manufacturer’s warranty.
Are you a local company?
Yes. R. Cooper Roofing & Siding is a family-owned company based in Missouri City, in business since 2015. When you call, you reach Robert or one of his sons, not a call center.
Will my roof replacement be noisy?
There will be some noise during tear-off and installation, but most of our customers are surprised at how quickly it is over. A full replacement usually takes just 1 to 3 days.
Do you install skylights?
Yes. We install and repair skylights, including leak repairs around existing skylights.
